We admit it...it's easy to get a little negative this time of year! When every day on the extended forecast shows temperatures that are below zero, it can be hard not to see the light at the end of the tunnel. So we thought we'd take a minute to say "thanks" to two businesses whose actions made life a bit more pleasant over the last few weeks.
My husband and I had the good fortune to be able to travel down to Florida a couple of weeks ago to visit family and friends. We were enjoying the sunshine and hearing the horror stories about the weather "up north" when we got an e-mail on Friday from JetBlue. The e-mail gave us a friendly warning that it looked likely that our Monday flights would be cancelled, and gave us the choice of rebooking for another day at no extra charge.
Knowing the nightmare that we'd face if we waited until Monday to see if the flights were ultimately cancelled, we looked at the forecast and decided to rebook our return for a day later. The flights were indeed cancelled on Monday, we enjoyed an extra day in Florida, and we made it home on Tuesday without incident. Thanks to JetBlue's proactive approach, we were able to enjoy the rest of our trip with barely a blip on the radar.
Upon our return on Tuesday, we went directly to Play Dog Play, the local dog "daycare" and boarding facility on Pine Street in Burlington that has taken great care of our dogs for the last several years when we travel.
Sadly, this time we were only picking up one dog...we lost our beloved Great Dane, Cooper, quite suddenly in the week before we left on our trip. We'd been a bit concerned about how our other dog, Shelby, would respond to being left Play Dog Play without her "big brother" to look out for her.
Not only did the folks at Play Dog Play send us e-mail updates on Shelby (complete with photos!) while we were gone....but when we arrived to pick her up, they presented us with a lovely photo album that they had made, full of photos they'd taken of Cooper over the years. The staff members all signed the book and wrote us notes about how much they'd enjoyed having him, shared anectodes about the time he spent there, and so forth. We were so incredibly touched by this gesture, and it made the "solo pickup" quite a bit easier.
It's very nice to know that we have businesses like this, on both the local and national levels, who truly do care about their customers and look out for their interests. We will also take this as a great lesson to remember how important our customers are to us...and we that, we offer a sincere "thank you" and heartfelt hope that we will get to visit with you soon!
